Bangkok International Associates was founded in 1988 as the Thailand branch office of Australian law firm Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills). We specialize in corporate and commercial law, joint ventures, M&A, banking and security, due diligence on local companies where the parent is listing, taxation, employment, commercial and residential property, intellectual property, telecoms, IT, e-commerce and general litigation. We have 13 lawyers, with additional support staff. The goodwill of the firm is based on our relationships with existing clients and referrals by existing clients. We also have long established relationships with leading foreign law firms in Asia, the United States, Europe and elsewhere. BIA is the exclusive Thailand member of the Law Firm Network (LFN), a network of law firms with members in 53 counties worldwide.
Stephen Frost was educated at the College of Law, London, and qualified as a solicitor in the UK. He has worked in Thailand for over 20 years. He specializes in corporate and commercial law, M&A, joint ventures, banking and security, property, employment, and telecommunications. He has handled many takeover transactions, due diligence in connection with parent company listings, and cross border loans and security. He spent one year outside law, working in the Business Development Division of Central Group, the largest retailing group in Thailand. He has written and lectured in Thailand and overseas on many areas of Thai law relevant to foreign investment. He is a director of the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand, and Chairman of the Legal & Taxation sub committee.
