Our British Virgin Islands Financial Advisory team specialises in taking formal insolvency appointments, including Receiverships and Insolvent Liquidations. Such appointments frequently encompass cross-border enforcement, asset-tracing and forensic components. Assignments have also seen litigation support services being provided, in conjunction with the core Financial Advisory service lines. Such complex multi-jurisdictional assignments are seamlessly covered via Deloitte’s global network.
Darren leads the Financial Advisory service line for Deloitte in the British Virgin Islands. He is a UK qualified and BVI licensed Insolvency Practitioner, and has over 20 years of experience in the industry. Darren has been appointed as Receiver to multiple BVI companies, as well as Liquidator of solvent and insolvent companies and partnerships. Such appointments have been by voluntary resolutions, as well as by the BVI Commercial Court. The appointments have encompassed jurisdictions including; BVI, EMEA, Russia, CIS and APAC regions. Such cross-border assignments have involved working with, and coordinating, offshore and onshore legal counsel in various jurisdictions, and have included court applications for cross-border recognition, Norwich Pharmacal Orders and freezing injunctions. Darren is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and also serves on the technical committee of the Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association (RISA) of the British Virgin Islands.
